Black Cherry Gushers by Barney’s Farm: Genetics and Background
Black Cherry Gushers by Barney’s Farm is a feminized, indica-dominant hybrid created from Acai x Black Cherry Funk genetics. For collectors searching specifically for Black Cherry Gushers Barneys Farm, this release is particularly interesting because it comes from a collaboration between Barney’s Farm and California’s Backpack Boyz.
Barney’s Farm lists Black Cherry Gushers as 60% indica and 40% sativa, with THC reaching around 32%.
The genetics are firmly rooted in modern American breeding, with both sides of the cross contributing to the strain’s dark fruit and sweet candy character.
Black Cherry Gushers Flavour, Aroma and Character
Fruit and sweetness are right at the centre of this strain.
Barney’s Farm describes flavours of apricot, berry, candy and cherry, while the aroma combines apricot and cherry with sugary sweetness and a deeper earthy background.
Cherry is one of the strongest themes, but the berry and apricot notes make the profile feel more layered than a simple cherry strain. Candy-like sweetness then adds the modern dessert character you would expect from genetics of this type.
We particularly like the earthy note underneath. It gives the sweeter fruit aromas more depth and stops everything from becoming overly sugary.
What Makes the Barney’s Farm x Backpack Boyz Version Different?
The collaboration behind Black Cherry Gushers is an important part of its identity.
Barney’s Farm worked with Backpack Boyz California on this release, combining the experience of an established European seedbank with genetics associated with the modern Californian scene.
The Acai x Black Cherry Funk pairing also gives this version a clearly stated lineage, which is useful when there are so many Cherry and Gushers-related strains now available.
Barney’s Farm describes the flowers as having rich forest-green shades, brighter mint-green areas, orange hairs and a heavy coating of trichomes.
Our Take on Black Cherry Gushers by Barney’s Farm
At SeedMasters.com, we think Black Cherry Gushers is one of the more distinctive modern releases in the Barney’s Farm catalogue.
The Acai x Black Cherry Funk lineage gives it an interesting background, while the combination of cherry, apricot, berries, candy and earth creates a profile that is easy to remember.
We also like the Backpack Boyz collaboration. It gives this strain a stronger identity than simply being another fruit-heavy hybrid added to an already crowded market.
For collectors interested in modern Californian genetics, Barney’s Farm collaborations and dark fruit or candy-style terpene profiles, Black Cherry Gushers is certainly one worth considering.
